Through a whole Trust approach, driven by a desire to educate, nurture and empower our 700 staff and over 4700 students to be sustainable citizens, we are embedding sustainability into everything we do.

We recognise the potential impact and influence that we have on our environment, and are committed to tackling environmental issues and sustainability for a greener future.

Our Sustainability Vision

Strategic Aims

Bring together Eco Champions from each Academy to identify key action areas, and develop both Trust wide and academy measurable action plans.
Reduce carbon emissions related to energy consumption across the trust, being Carbon Net Zero in operation by 2024.
Create a better environment for our pupils by improving biodiversity, reducing air pollution and creating environmentally sustainable working practices.
Create empowering opportunities for pupils to engage in climate change and environmental studies

A simple, seven-step framework that several of our Primary Academies follow. We are especially proud of Manston St James C of E Primary Academy for recently achieving Green Flag Status.

The UKSSN provides peer networks for staff and students to share ideas and resources, collaborate on local, national and international initiatives, and develop personal, social and workplace skills.

We were delighted to be shortlisted in the DfE Sustainability Award through Education Estates. Our entry focused on the dedication of our academy EcoChampions and student Eco Councils, whose commitment to sustainability and passion for preserving the earth for future generations ensures that sustainable actions are core to every part of our teaching and operations.

Asa Church of England MAT, we work in close partnership with the Diocese of Leeds. Whilst ‘Saving Creation: Strategic action to combat climate change’ was developed to be aimed at Churches, their toolkit and principles have been a useful foundation for our journey to protect and preserve all God’s Creation.“Jesus said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation’” Mark 16:15

We were thrilled to be Highly Commended in the Environmental Trust of the Year category at the Optimus Education MAT Excellence Awards 2023, recognising the how our whole Trust approach, driven by a desire to educate, nurture and empower our staff and students to be sustainable citizens, focuses on embedding sustainability into everything we do.

We are committed to the UN sustainable development goals, linking everything we do to one of the 17 goals, with the overall aim of ending poverty, protecting our planet, and improving the lives and prospects for everyone, everywhere.
